VERBORGEN GROND (tweede kamer)

Tiberiy Szilvashi werkt op het gebied van monumentale kunst en schilderen. Hij is een van de meest prominente meesters binnen de hedendaagse Oekraïense kunstwereld. Zijn kunst wordt gekenmerkt door een diepgaande abstracte cultuur in het gebruik van verschillende technieken; in zijn werk combineert hij tradities in kleur, cultuur, schaal en vorm met innovatieve beeldconcepten en technische benaderingen.

Szilvashi is naast schilder ook theore-ticus van hedendaagse kunst. Zijn theorie heeft betrekking op de plaats van de materie in ons kunstbesef en hoe we de materie metafysisch betrekken in ons wereldbeeld. Hij is de auteur van artikelen en essays over prominente kunstenaars uit verleden en heden.

Het werk dat getoond wordt bestaat uit zes foto’s die elk een stukje grond laten zien. In de titel van het werk 'As, gras en schittering’ herkennen we zowel het formele als het poëtische uitgangspunt van de kunstenaar. In de digitale fotobewerking (door Constantin Roudeshko) krijgen de materie en het licht een persoonlijke aanwezigheid waarin de werkelijkheid zich openbaart in de blik van de kunstenaar. Het is het enige werk in de huidige tentoonstelling dat ook in 2022 te zien is geweest. Het werk zelf is uit 2014 en gezien de geschiedenis van Oekraïne heeft het alleen al door de jaartallen een gelaagde betekenis.

HIDDEN GROUND (second room)

Tiberiy Szilvashi works in the fields of monumental art and painting. He is one of the most prominent masters within the contemporary Ukrainian art world. His art is characterized by a profound abstract culture in the use of various techniques; in his work, he combines traditions in color, culture, scale, and form with innovative visual concepts and technical approaches.

In addition to being a painter, Szilvashi is also a theorist of contemporary art. His theory concerns the place of matter in our artistic awareness and how we metaphysically incorporate matter into our worldview. He is the author of articles and essays on prominent artists of the past and present.

The work on display consists of six photographs, each showing a piece of ground. In the title of the work, ‘Ash, Grass and Glare’, we recognize both the formal and the poetic starting point of the artist. In the digital photo editing (by Constantin Roudeshko), matter and light acquire a personal presence in which reality reveals itself in the gaze of the artist. It is the only work in the present exhibition that was also on display in 2022. The work itself dates from 2014, and given the history of Ukraine, it has a layered meaning simply because of the dates.
